The three of the wisest women beside Penelope was Lady Danbury and the Queen herself which saw more than she would admit.

  • Angela119 on February 13, 2021 3:13 pm

I did enjoy most of the characters but I found some of the female actors to have a chip on their shoulder like Marina Thompson who thought herself bright was foolish to engage herself and to question what happened when she thought the tea concoction she drank she aborted the baby? Plus, she acted superior to Penelope who was there to help her and annoyed me. Plus when Daphne tried to help Mariana, she acted as if she was so much more worldly and bright by telling Daphne how could she assume that the General is going to respond to her inquiries? Why not? She is a Duchess of Hastings. Stupid! It really bothered me that Mirana had no compassion for anyone but herself.

Anothr was the Baron Featherington knowing her husband was a gambler why didn’t she keep an eye out on the ledger where she later found herself totally shocked he spent their daughters’ fortune diaries? How dumb can this older woman behave? I would have put away the entire bag of money instead of leaving it there under the desk before the Baron Featherington would gambled that too? Dumb!

I watched and enjoyed the movie for 27 consecutive days in it’s entirety. Loved it!!🌺

  • Pat on January 28, 2021 7:35 am

I loved watching Bridgetown. I pray the second season has more of the Hastings. They stole the show. I really loved the inclusiveness of people of color. It was very refreshing. Please continue?

I watched the show after reading some of the review. Love it. Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page really pull-off the characters they played. Their story actually a lot richer in the show than in the book itself.
They set a high standard for the others characters that will become the main leads on the following seasons.
If they follow the book, the 2nd season won’t have as much Daphne and Simon in it. Wonder if it’s still gonna get the same impact as season 1.

I’m 68, retired USAF, have lived around the globe and so have seen and done quite a lot. This is easily the best thing ever put on film. Beautiful sets, gorgeous actors who are excellent at their craft, stunning musical accompaniment, a real celebration of life & love. Simply captivating.

  • Reasonable Cash on January 27, 2021 11:35 pm

It’s funny because when Bly Manor premiered it was “omg have you watched Bly Manor?!”
Then when Emily in Paris premiered it was “omg have you watched Emily in Paris?!”
Then when Queens Gambit premiered it was “omg Queens Gambit! Must watch!!”
So then Bridgerton premiers and it’s…. yeah crickets. Not a single person on my Facebook or Twitter feed talked about it once even in passing.
So now all these article drop talking about how it blew away the viewership numbers of the above mentioned three, and I’m supposed to believe there’s not some kind of doctoring going on here?
    Okie dokie.

  • lynne on January 27, 2021 11:33 pm

Watched it! Loved it! Repeated it 3 times.

  • Sherry in Indianapolis on January 27, 2021 6:43 pm

    Watched it, loved it….

  • Justin Devonish on January 27, 2021 5:15 pm

Why so popular? I don’t get it.

  • Movie enthusiast on January 27, 2021 4:03 pm

It was popular, no doubt. But counting 75 seconds consecutive view as one view is wrong. Of course they are not going to reveal the whole number.

  • Cole on January 27, 2021 3:52 pm

Couldn’t get through one episode. talk about taking liberties with history.

    • Rich on January 27, 2021 5:19 pm

Go away. It’s OBVIOUSLY not meant to be historically accurate. Your comment is absurd.

  • Anonymous on January 27, 2021 3:25 pm

This show is absolutely insufferable, acting the level of a junior high theater class. My wife couldn’t get past episode one. I know other people had the same reaction. These numbers are hype.

    • nerdrage on January 27, 2021 3:48 pm

Well this wouldn’t be the first time garbage proves popular. Netflix is a science experiment exploring just how bad the world’s taste is. Answer: pretty bad.

      • Anonymous on January 28, 2021 4:29 am

And both of you are of course the arbiters of good taste. Get off your high horses – you’ll hurt yourselves.

  • Essie Lewis on January 27, 2021 1:10 pm

I have to admit, I was not a fan, at first. I watched the first episode for about 30 minutes, turned it off and didn’t return for about a week. Then I completed the first and, over the next couple of weeks, watched all episodes. The costumes were fun and the dialog was interesting but it was far too over-sexted for my taste. However, overall, I would give it a 7 out of 10 and 5 of those points are for Rege-Jean Page!!! Don’t really know if I will bother with Season 2 but, I can change my mind.

  • Anonymous on January 27, 2021 12:12 pm

    164m mins watched lol

  • Anonymous on January 27, 2021 12:12 pm

How many streaming minutes watched though?

  • Anonymous on January 27, 2021 11:52 am

Oooooh the haters in this comment section. Engagement was clearly very high given the amount of fan content that has sprung up on social media and around the web. So sorry that content other than superheroes has found an audience!

    • Anonymous on January 27, 2021 9:45 pm

      Yesssss 🙏

    • Anonymous on January 27, 2021 12:11 pm

Why wouldn’t they report on it then? The only data they gave was 2 min views. When they report on Ozark and the office they report on streaming minutes not views.

    • RJ on January 27, 2021 11:57 am

Exactly! It’s a hit because of viewer’s reactions, not just the numbers. It’s been non-stop Bridgerton talk since the new year.

      • Reasonable Cash on January 28, 2021 9:28 am

Where? I was just commenting above at how surprised I was to read this and similar articles as I’ve heard no one talk about Bridgerton. Bly Manor, Emily in Paris and the Queen’s Gambit hit hard with the buzz when they dropped, on social media and even casual conversation. Queen’s Gambit had even my mom posting on my facebook page about how I needed to watch it ASAP. As for Bridgerton, the only mention I’ve seen is articles from influencers and such like AVClub etc.
It’s not because it’s romance, as again Emily in Paris was all over the place this summer, and it’s not because of the POC casting either because all I’ve heard for the last two-three weeks is how Lupin is amazing. Conversely Bridgerton was a big black hole until this week when article like this began proclaiming it the new streaming king.
Sorry but that is just odd.

        • taffygrrl on January 28, 2021 11:29 am

My social feeds are non-stop Bridgerton. The people I know in real life keep talking about it too. My mom is watching it. Even all the guys in my weekly gaming group watched it…before I did!!! Maybe you’re just in a bubble that hasn’t watched it. (We see it in politics, too, with the bubbles of “Of course Biden won, everyone I knew voted for him!” and “Of course Trump really won, everyone I know voted for him!”)

  • Anonymous on January 27, 2021 11:26 am

Engagement was probably very low though. Or else Netflix would be bragging about how many people actually finished Bridgerton. I bet Ozark and Stranger Things are far better for Netflix.

    • Jay on January 27, 2021 3:00 pm

This is nonsense! I don’t even watch many TV shows, let alone a drama series, and I watched the whole season in a few days. I am pretty sure engagement was high.

  • Dana on January 27, 2021 11:20 am

All were good but I admit- i fw and only had patience for the scenes with the duke. Then watched it again and noticed the design but still fw to his sections.

  • Donna Wolf on January 27, 2021 10:53 am

Daphne and Simon are the reason I love Bridgerton. They are reason for me watching. The others are nice but I cannot imagine watching without them

  • Jack on January 27, 2021 10:29 am

How many of those “viewers” watched more than two minutes of it?

    • RJ on January 27, 2021 11:55 am

I know a lot of my friends started the series, and they all finished the series. It was a fun and entertaining show.

  • GMW on January 27, 2021 9:44 am

    So much fun!

  • Travis on January 27, 2021 9:40 am

Great video. I mush have missed the ones made for Ratched and The Politician…oh wait..

  • Brightly-Go on January 27, 2021 9:20 am

The Romance genre has never gotten the respect it deserves in print, and while ‘romantic comedies’ and ‘soap operas’ have long been popular in their respective niches, it’s nice to see a good Romance book series do so well when adapted to the small screen, even if it is streaming rather than prime-time.

In past decades, Regency Romances were most likely to be seen on PBS, and that only if the author had been dead long enough to take on the air of Literature.
