Netflix naysayers have never understood Netflix’s long game. The so-called developing world is always eager for new content. They’ll hit 200 Million+ subscribers in 3 years or less.

People will always go to the movies for the social experience, but their smartphones (and soon augmented reality glasses) will be where the real action is for content producers, which will only accelerate with the advent of 5G. Also, expect theatre windows to be whittled down to weeks sooner than later. There’s too much money at stake to have it held up by the owners of approx. 50,000 movie screens. Soon, opening day will be on the 2.7 Billion smartphones globally, as of 2019. It’s inevitable. Theatre owners will still make their money, so their fears are unfounded.

Netflix is perfectly positioned for this future. Add to this their understanding of producing content with a more diverse and global eye than Hollywood has made in the past, and it makes for an unstoppable platform.

Disney+, Amazon Prime, HBO Max, and Hulu will also benefit from this. Apple+ is still a bit of a question mark, as is Peacock. Cheers!
