‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ First-Look Video: Jane Levy Has a Song In Her Heart – And Her Head

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist

“All Zoey wanted was a connection, and what she got was so much more.” That’s putting it lightly. We’re getting the first look at Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, NBC’s musical dramedy series starring Jane Levy as a whip-smart computer programmer who not only has a song in her heart, but also in her head.

“One second I’m getting an MRI, and the next second, people are singing to me!” exclaims Levy’s Zoe in the first footage from the upcoming series. Per the logline: After an unusual event, Zoey, who always preferred podcasts over pop songs, suddenly starts to hear the innermost wants, thoughts and desires of the people around her – her family, co-workers and complete strangers – through popular songs. At first, she questions her own sanity, but after getting some guidance from her musically adept neighbor, Mo, and making a breakthrough with her ailing father, Zoey soon realizes this unwanted curse may just be an incredibly wonderful gift as she connects with the world like never before.

In the clip, we hear her friends and colleagues breaking out in song in tunes such as The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction”, belted out by guest star Lauren Graham, as well as Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker” and DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win”, among others.

In addition to Levy, the series stars Skylar Astin, Alex Newell, John Clarence Stewart, with Peter Gallagher and Mary Steenburgen.

Series is written and executive produced by Austin Winsberg. Richard Shepard directs and executive produces (pilot only). Paul Feig, Jessie Henderson, Kim Tannenbaum and Eric Tannenbaum, David Blackman and Daniel Inkeles also executive produce. Jason Wang is co-executive producer. Dan Magnante produces.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is produced by Lionsgate and Universal Television in association with the Tannenbaum Company, Feigco Entertainment and Universal Music Group’s Polygram.
