‘Year Of The Fox’: Visit Films Boards Family Drama Ahead Of Seattle & Cannes Market Debuts; First Look Revealed

'Year Of The Fox'

EXCLUSIVE: New York-based sales company Visit Films has acquired world rights to the family drama Year of the Fox, which will debut at the Seattle International Film Festival before heading to the Cannes market.

Directed by Megan Griffiths and written by Eliza Flug, the pic follows Ivy (Sarah Jeffery), a biracial teenager navigating Aspen’s elite party scene amidst her adoptive parents’ (Jane Adams and Jake Weber) bitter divorce. As she watches her wealthy community provide cover for predatory behavior, Ivy struggles to find her own path without losing herself in this searing exploration of the complexities of power, privilege and personal agency.

Inspired by true events, the pic is billed as a “resonant and timely story” told through a “personal lens that examines the empowerment and danger of coming into your sexuality as a woman in our society.”

The film is produced by Lacey Leavitt Gray, Eliza Flug and Jennifer Roth, with Jonathan Caso serving as co-producer. Editing is by Celia Beasley. Ryan Kampe from Visit Films is handling world sales.

“Megan is one of the first directors we worked with at Visit, and I have watched her career develop over the years. We have always wanted to work with her again as there are few filmmakers with such a powerful way to tell such important stories,” Kampe said.

“Her particular emphasis on the experience of women in society is a needed lens that is astute, brave, meaningful, and unique. I think that buyers will see, in this film, many parallels to real-world abuses by men in positions of power and want to share these insights with a global audience.”

Griffiths added: “Eliza and I are thrilled to be working with Visit to bring this film to market. Ryan and his team thoroughly understand the themes the film explores, and are as confident as we are that these will resonate with audiences. Producer Lacey Leavitt Gray and I worked with Visit on our 2011 Sundance film The Off Hours, so we know firsthand the thoughtfulness and dedication they will bring to Year of the Fox.”
