Disney+ used the platform of the Emmy Awards on sister network ABC to unveil the trailer for WandaVision, the first series from Marvel Studios that will air exclusively on the streaming service later this year.
Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany star in the series, reprising their roles as Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch) and Vision, respectively. Kat Dennings, Randall Park and Kathryn Hahn. The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda and Vision — two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives — begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.
The events of WandaVision will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
The series was originally set for a 2021 debut but will now premiere later this year alongside another MCU series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Jac Schaeffer, who wrote Captain Marvel, is WandaVision‘s showrunner, and Matt Shakman, an Emmy nominee this year for directing Hulu’s The Great, helmed all episodes and is an executive producer.
Other upcoming Marvel originals on Disney+ include Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk, the latter of which just cast Tatiana Maslany as its lead.
