EXCLUSIVE: Trailer has dropped for Frank Doelger’s The Swarm, the big-budget pan-European drama that will premiere at the Berlinale Series.
Today’s in-depth trail showcases the environmental thriller in all its glory. It begins as strange happenings are taking place around the world: whales destroy boats, deep sea crabs attack beaches, mussels block container ships and an unknown ice worm destabilizes continental slopes and triggers tsunamis. A group of scientists who realize there is something bigger at play must then come together to undertake a life-threatening mission.
The show has been a huge undertaking. Cast includes Alexander Karim, Cécile de France, Leonie Benesch and Joshua Odjick and Game of Thrones exed Doelger is EP basing the series on a novel by Frank Schätzing.

The Swarm will premiere later this month at the Berlinale Series, part of the EFM, alongside the likes of HBO Max’s Spy/Master, Silver Bear winner Zhang Dalei’s Why Try to Change Me Now and Stan’s Australian show Bad Behaviour. It was one of Deadline’s six international dramas to watch of 2023. It is produced by Schwarm TV Productions GmbH & Co KG, a joint venture between Intaglio Films and ndF IP for ZDF, France Télévisions, Rai Fiction, Viaplay Group, Hulu Japan, ORF, SRF, in co-production with Bravado Fiction and Beside Production, in co-operation with ATHOS KG. Beta Film and ZDF Studios are handling world sales.
