EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a clip from The Stranger, the Un Certain Regard selection starring Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris.
See Saw Films’ pic comes from Thomas M. Wright, the Australian Top of the Lake star-turned-director who picked up nominations for previous feature Acute Misfortune. The Stranger is his first to feature at Cannes.
In the pic, a friendship forms between two strangers, Henry Teague, played by Mission Impossible: Fallout‘s Harris and Mark, played by Obi Wan Kenobi star Edgerton.
Henry is worn down by a lifetime of physical labour and Mark becomes his saviour and ally. However, neither is who they appear to be, each carry secrets that threaten to ruin them – and in the background, one of the nation’s largest police operations is closing in.
Also starring are Jada Alberts, Cormac Wright, Steve Mouzakis and Matthew Sunderland.
