‘The Return Of Tanya Tucker’: Debut Clip For SXSW Doc About Comeback Of Country Music Legend

'The Return of Tanya Tucker'

EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a first look at The Return Of Tanya Tucker, the feature documentary premiering at SXSW this month.

The film follows rising Americana music star Brandi Carlile as she takes it upon herself to write an entire album for her hero, Tanya Tucker, based on the latter’s extraordinary life.

Tucker had risen to fame in the country music world in the early 1970s, having her first hit at the age of just 13.

The album made with Carlile, While I’m Livin’, was Tucker’s first release since 2002 and sparked a comeback that saw the musician win her first two Grammy Awards.

The doc also features archive footage from throughout Tucker’s career.

The film was directed by Kathlyn Horan and produced by Horan alongside Julie Goldman, Christopher Clements, Carolyn Hepburn, and J. Daniel Torres.

The SXSW premiere is on March 13.

“We live in a world that tells us there are more barriers between us than there are pathways to each other. I hope this film inspires people to see the pathways to build community, particularly among women,” commented Horan
