Starz Sets ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Premiere Date, Releases Dramatic Trailer For Spinoff Series

Power Book II: Ghost

The action-packed story of Tariq St. Patrick picks up right where it left off in a new trailer for Power Book II: Ghost.

The Power spinoff series will premiere on September 6, Starz announced Tuesday. In the trailer, Michael Rainey Jr. reprises his role as Tariq, a teen drug dealer. The young man must face not only the repercussions of his past, but must do so while adjusting to a new college environment. The freshman must figure out how to pursue his education while plotting ways to free his mother (Naturi Naughton) from the slammer.

“That boy loves his mother,” Naughton’s Tasha St. Patrick says from jail.

Even in a new environment, Tariq’s past continues to follow him as Mary J. Blige’s drug boss Monet Stewart finds new clientele in college students. Parties, sex, betrayal, violence and drama all await the Ghost protagonist in the series premiere.

“I can’t fail,” Tariq says.

“Power Book II: Ghost, hits the ground running, throwing fans right back into the action up just 72 hours after the events of Power 615,” Power creator, showrunner and exec producer Courtney A. Kemp said. “What I can promise is that once the ride begins, we don’t slow down.”

The Starz/Lionsgate spinoff series also stars Shane Johnson, Gianni Paolo, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Daniel Bellomy and Paige Hurd.

Kemp exec produces the series through her company End of Episode and Curtis “50 Cent’ Jackson through his G-Unit Film and Television. Additional exec producers are End of Episode’s Chris Selak, Mark Canton through Atmosphere Entertainment MM, Danielle De Jesus, Shana Stein and Bart Wenrich.
