HBO’s Silicon Valley is wrapping its run this year with a seven-episode sixth season that launches October 27. A trailer that hit today shows that Pied Piper and its fidgety founder Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch), much like today’s real life tech giants, is getting its time in front of Congress.
Created by Mike Judge, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, Silicon Valley also stars Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Amanda Crew, Jimmy O. Yang, Suzanne Cryer, Matt Ross and Josh Brener. The series has scored a Best Comedy Series Emmy nom each of its first five seasons with its spot-on take on the epicenter of the high-tech gold rush.
Judging by today’s trailer, the U.S.. government’s current hightened interest in the likes of Facebook, Google and data privacy will be in the story mix for Season 6. So will the usual not-so-veiled swipes at
Most of the core cast have stayed til the end the series with one major exception: original cast member T.J. Miller, who exited after Season 4 under controversial circumstances. During TCA earlier this month, HBO President of Programming Casey Bloys, who helped develop the series as a comedy executive at the network, suggested to not hold your breath about a final-season reunion. “I highly doubt that he would be coming back to make a cameo,” Bloys said.
No sign of Miller’s Erlich Bachman in the trailer, which you can check out above.
