Seth Meyers will step out from behind his Late Night desk for his first Netflix stand-up special, Netflix announced today. Seth Meyers: Lobby Baby, taped at the Pantages Theater in Minneapolis, will launch globally Nov. 5.
The streamer released this promotional video today, featuring Meyers chatting with several children playing with toy dinosaurs and trying to interest them in his new action figure. Or non-action figure – the stand-up comic doll pretty much just stands there.
“By the way,” a dejected Meyers tells the kids, “all your dinosaurs died.”
In the upcoming special, the NBC late night host and former Saturday Night Live Weekend Update anchor will, says Netflix, “explain to his fans that you can love a lobby baby as much as a hospital baby…in time. In his Netflix comedy-special debut, Seth Meyers: Lobby Baby, Meyers touches upon family, fatherhood, and why you should never take your girlfriend to Paris for her birthday.”
The title no doubt refers to the 2018 birth of Meyers’ son Axel, who was born to the comic and wife Alexi in the lobby of their Manhattan co-op as the couple were about to take an Uber to the hospital.
Today, Meyers tweeted, “Here is a true thing I am excited about – I have a @Netflix special premiering November 5th. Please enjoy this promotional video in which the children are better actors than I am.”
