The trailer ad for Paramount and Spyglass Media Group’s Scream VI that will appear during the Super Bowl on Sunday has dropped. The pic, the latest in the horror franchise, hits theaters March 10, with the studio today unveiling nationwide 3D fan event screenings of the film the day before.
The Scream VI plot moves forward with the four survivors of the latest Ghostface killings — Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega — leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. By the looks of the 55-second trailer, it doesn’t appear to work out that way.
Hayden Panettiere and Courteney Cox also return to their roles in the franchise and also star alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.
Scream VI is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, and written by James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick based on the characters created by Kevin Williamson for the 1996 original. The latest pic in the series, Scream, was released in January 2022 and grossed $140 million worldwide.
Producers are William Sherak, Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein. Executive producers are Williamson, Chad Villella, Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, Cox, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad and Marianne Maddalena.
This year’s Super Bowl airs on Fox, with coverage beginning at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET. A total of 7 1/2 hours of preshow leads into the kickoff at 3:30 p.m. PT/6:30 p.m. ET.
