EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Rana Naidu, the Indian adaptation of Ray Donovan, starring Rana Daggubati and his uncle Venkatesh Daggubati, on screen together for the first time.
The two super-stars of Telugu cinema play the warring father and son duo portrayed by Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight in the original series, which ran for seven seasons on Showtime.
Streaming on Netflix from March 10, the Hindi version is created by Karan Anshuman and produced by Sunder Aaron through Locomotive Global. Anshuman and Suparn S Varma are directing.
Rana Daggubati plays a celebrity fixer who can deal with any problem that his powerful clients throw at him, but not with his father: “Playing the role of Rana Naidu was exceptionally challenging,” said Daggubati. “He’s a complex character with a deep emotional connection to his family, but also struggles with his relationship with his father. Amidst all this drama is Rana’s professional journey and what it requires of him.”
Venkatesh Daggubati said: “Portraying the character of Naga is an entirely new experience for me…with his playful demeanor that stands in stark contrast to Rana’s more intense personality. This character is witty, charismatic and layered.”
Rana Naidu’s cast also includes Surveen Chawla, Sushant Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Gaurav Chopra, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Rajesh Jais in key roles. The show will be available in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil And Malayalam versions.
