In advance of the all-important guild awards (PGA, SAG, WGA) including the often-prescient DGA on Saturday as well as BAFTA Awards on Sunday, awards experts from PMC brands Deadline, Gold Derby and Indiewire stage another smackdown on where they think the state of the Oscar race now stands, and whether they expect beginning this weekend that it could possibly shake things up.
That is because the membership of the Hollywood guilds and BAFTA have a strong overlap with the Academy’s voting body and usually prove to be the most reliable indicator of where the winds are really blowing. Joining me to dissect it all, and each of the Oscar categories, are Tom O’Neil from Gold Derby, Anne Thompson of Indiewire and special guest and Gold Derby contributor Wilson Morales of Black Film & TV.
