Stephen Colbert Discusses Covid-19 On Luxury Cruise Liners And Unaware Passengers

Tonight on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the host talks about Covid-19 on the high seas.

While Delta, and Omicron variants rage through the population, there has been a spike in regular Covid-19. According to Colbert, the U.S. is averaging 100k cases a day, and not just on land, but on cruise ships as well. A ship that left for New Orleans had at least 17 cases of Covid-19 infection, with some Omicron cases mixed in. He definitely sees this as history repeating itself based on his response.

“We’re back at cruise ship Covid?! What’s next, a new season of Tiger King?!”

Apparently, the cruise line tried its best to prevent the spread but a few passengers were shocked at the news. A clip is played of one passenger Don Canole talking to Fox news that he only heard about Covid because on board because he overheard a conversation.

“It would have been nice to have known. We would have taken a few more precautions,” he said.

Colbert follows up by saying

He heard it from the reporter? The guy is breaking important life news to him.  Sir, how do you feel about being exposed to the CoronaVirus? And follow up, your wife left you, called you a selfish lover, and took the kids. Your thoughts?!”

Catch the full opening monologue above.
