‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ First Trailer: Ewan McGregor As Jedi Master In ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff Series

'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Trailer: Ewan McGregor As Jedi Master In 'Star Wars' Spinoff

Disney CEO gave shareholders a treat with the first look at the Star Wars spinoff series Obi-Wan Kenobi, with Ewan McGregor reprising his role as the Jedi sage.

And boy oh boy, this looks like it should have been a movie.

Dropping May 25 on Disney+, Obi-Wan Kenobi begins 10 years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where the title Jedi faced his greatest defeat — the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

“The fight is done,” says Kenobi, “We lost.”

We see Kenobi looking on at a young Luke Skywalker, clad in pod goggles, imitating his father’s old sport from The Phantom Menace. “Stay hidden,” Kenobi says observing the boy from a distance.

“The key to hunting Jedi…” booms the voice-over, “is patience.”

The trailer features a look at Joel Edgerton’s Owen Lars; Luke’s uncle. There’s also a shot of the Grand Inquisitor (Ruper Friend).

Hayden Christensen returns as Darth Vader. Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

The series is directed by Deborah Chow and executive produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and Joby Harold.
