After conquering the box office last year with industry records of $3.76 billion domestic, $11.1B global off a slate of big IP, Disney comes alive on March 27 with their first live-action feature of the year, the reboot of animated classic Mulan. Today they dropped another trailer during the Big Game for the Niki Caro-directed movie.

In the final trailer for Mulan we are treated to see more sword-wielding action from the movie’s star, Crystal Liu. We get to see more dialogue from her and it seems that they are really focusing on the good vs. bad rivalry between her and Gong Li’s shapeshifting villainess, who at one point says, “You will die pretending being something you are not” to which Mulan responds, “Yet here I stand, proof there is a place for people like us!”

A year ago during Super Bowl, Disney ran a spot for Captain Marvel which was 2019’s first big event pic from the Burbank, CA studio opening to $153.4M.

Among Disney reboots of its animated classics, last year’s The Lion King owns the opening domestic record with $191.77M followed by 2017’s Beauty and the Beast which debuted to $174.7M.

Disney/Pixar’s Onward is the first big release from Disney of 2020 on March 6.
