Here is the first trailer for Little Women, writer-director Greta Gerwig’s awards-season follow-up to Lady Bird that takes on the classic yet timely Louisa May Alcott novel. Check it out above.
It unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March (Saoirse Ronan), reflects back and forth on her fictional life. It’s the story of Jo and her three sisters – Meg, Beth and Amy (Emma Watson, Eliza Scanlen and Florence Pugh) – on their journey to womanhood in the aftermath of the Civil War, guided by their Marmee (Laura Dern). Timothée Chalamet plays their neighbor Laurie, and Meryl Streep is Aunt March.
Chris Cooper, Louis Garrel, Tracy Letts, James Norton and Bob Odenkirk co-star in the pic produced by Amy Pascal, Denise Di Novi and Robin Swicord. Arnon Milchan, Adam Merims, Evelyn O’Neill and Rachel O’Connor are the executive producers.
Sony Pictures opens the film wide on Christmas Day.
