The first trailer for Netflix’s new basketball drama Hustle, starring Adam Sandler and Queen Latifah, is here and it promises a feel-good mix of Jerry Maguire, Rocky and He Got Game.
The film follows Stanley Sugerman (Sandler), a travel-weary Philadelphia 76ers scout who has higher ambitions of being a coach but remains stuck on the road looking for the next unknown talent (“I haven’t been home on my daughter’s birthday for nine years running,” he says). His search around the world leads him to Spain, where he discovers Bo Cruz (Utah Jazz forward Juancho Hernangómez), an incredible streetball player with a troubled past. Stanley and Bo connect on and off the court over their shared passions for the game and family. Together they want to prove they can win, in basketball and in life.

Produced by a duo who knows something about developing basketball talent, LeBron James and Maverick Carter, the film’s trailer features cameos that will keep most NBA fans happy, including a bit of comedy between Sandler and everyone’s favorite backup center, the 7’3″ Boban Marjanović.
The trailer also includes appearances by 76ers’ legend Dr. J, Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, the Sixers’ Tobias Harris, Orlando’s Aaron Gordon — who appeared in Uncle Drew — the Nets’ Seth Curry, Hawks star Trae Young and Kenny Smith from TNT’s NBA Countdown.
Hustle co-stars Ben Foster and Robert Duvall. It is directed by Jeremiah Zagar. In addition to James and Carter, it is produced by Sandler, Allen Covert, Joe Roth, Jeffrey Kirschenbaum and Zack Roth.
