‘Hung Up On A Dream’ Teaser: The Zombies Doc From Director Robert Schwartzman, EP Tom Hanks Set For SXSW Debut

The Zombies in 'Hung Up on a Dream'

EXCLUSIVE: Deadline has an exclusive teaser trailer for the music documentary Hung Up on a Dream on British Invasion icons The Zombies, which is set to make its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival this Sunday.

The film directed and produced by Utopia’s Robert Schwartzman (The Unicorn, Dreamland) sees the band led by Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone reconvene nearly 60 years after they met as teenagers to tell their story of navigating the tumultuous music industry over the decades and making Odessey and Oracle, one of the most influential albums of all time. The Zombies’ single “She’s Not There” made them the first British band after The Beatles to reach #1 in the U.S. But after years of touring and many missteps in the ’60s, the band sadly missed out on their biggest moment yet, when “Time of the Season” hit #1 and became a global success, inspiring new generations each year. At the core of the band’s story is the true friendship, which led them to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.

Russell Wayne Groves produced Hung Up on a Dream alongside Schwartzman, with Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Rick Krim serving as exec producers. Watch the film’s first teaser by clicking above.
