We’re getting the first look at High School Musical: The Series, the upcoming reboot for Disney+’s direct-to-consumer streaming service. The trailer was unveiled today during a screening and panel for the reboot at D23 Expo.
From creator and executive producer Tim Federle (Ferdinand), High School Musical: The Musical: The Series follows the East High drama club as they work their way to opening night of their school’s first-ever production of High School Musical. Show-mances blossom, old friendships are tested while new ones are made, rivalries flare, and lives are changed forever as these young people discover the transformative power that only high school theater can provide.
Cast includes Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, Kate Reinders, Sofia Wylie, Matt Cornett, Dara Renee, Julia Lester, Frankie Rodriguez, Larry Saperstein and Mark St. Cyr.
The 10-episode series is developed and executive produced by Federle (Ferdinand) alongside alongside showrunner and executive producer Oliver Goldstick (Pretty Little Liars, Ugly Betty).
Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush (the original High School Musical trilogy) are also executive producers. Tamra Davis (Empire, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), is directing the first three episodes. The choreographer is Zach Woodlee (Glee, Dumplin‘).
High School Musical: The Series premieres November 12 with the launch of Disney+.
