Searchlight Pictures today unveiled a trailer for its film Fire Island, starring Joel Kim Booster (Sunnyside), Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) and Margaret Cho (All-American Girl), which debuts as a Hulu Original in the U.S. on June 3rd.
The film from director Andrew Ahn (Spa Night) is billed as a modern-day rom-com inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, which is set in the New York hamlet of Fire Island Pines. The story centers on two best friends who set out to have a legendary, weeklong summer vacation, with the help of cheap rosé and a cadre of eclectic friends.
Conrad Ricamora, James Scully, Matt Rogers, Tomas Matos, Torian Miller, Nick Adams, Zane Phillips, Michael Graceffa, Aidan Wharton, Peter Smith and Bradley Gibson also star in the pic written by Booster. Tony Hernandez, John Hodges and Brooke Posch produced for JAX Media (Russian Doll), with Booster exec producing, and JAX Media’s Jillian Vogel serving as co-producer. The project was being overseen for Searchlight Pictures by Senior Vice President Acquisitions and Production, Chan Phung, and Vice President Production, Richard Ruiz.
