Deadline Now: When It Comes To Female VPs Onscreen, There’s A Long Line Of Winners

Some stories are best told visually.

With that in mind, Deadline this week has launched Deadline Now, a regular video series that reveals a different side of the stories our readers care most about. It will explore everything from castings to COVID, ratings to firings, and late-night TV to the latest breaking news. The project’s driving imperative is visual storytelling.

Deadline Now is spearheaded by Deadline reporter and New Hollywood podcast co-host Amanda N’Duka.

Amid the buzz about Kamala Harris becoming the first woman of color to be the vice presidential nominee for a major party, Deadline Now takes a look at the long line of strong women who’ve blazed a similar trail onscreen.

While Hollywood didn’t have its Geraldine Ferraro moment until 1997, there has been a steady stream of powerful political women on the big and small screen ever since.
