EXCLUSIVE: Here’s the poignant first trailer for indie feature Jump, Darling, which features the late Cloris Leachman in one of her final starring roles.
Hollywood legend Leachman, who passed away last week aged 94, stars with newcomer Thomas Duplessie in the story of a rookie drag queen, reeling from a break-up, who escapes to the country where he finds his grandmother in steep decline yet desperate to avoid the local nursing home.
The film marks the debut of writer-director Phil Connell. Supporting cast includes Linda Kash, Jayne Eastwood and there are cameos from well-known drag queens Tynomi Banks (featured recently on Canada’s Drag Race), Fay Slift and Miss Fiercelicious.
LevelFILM has snapped up Canadian rights to the movie, which debuted last fall at the Toronto Inside Out Film Festival. Canada release is set for early March, 2021.
Connell and Katie Corbridge produce. Executive producers are Karen Harnisch (Sleeping Giant) and Allison Black (Mean Dreams).
Oscar and eight-time Emmy-winner Leachman, whose career spanned seven decades, is best known for movies including The Last Picture Show and Young Frankenstein and series such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, its spinoff Phyllis, and more recently, Fox’s Raising Hope.
