‘Cha Cha Real Smooth’ Trailer: First Look At Cooper Raiff’s Sundance Award Winner

Cooper Raiff and Dakota Johnson in 'Cha Cha Real Smooth'

Apple today unveiled the trailer for Cooper Raiff’s latest acclaimed feature, Cha Cha Real Smooth, which will hit select theaters and premiere globally on Apple TV+ on June 17th.

The dramatic comedy centers on 22-year-old Andrew (Raiff), who finds himself without a clear life path after graduating from college—stuck back at home with his family in New Jersey. But if there’s one thing that belongs on his nonexistent résumé, it’s how to get a party started, which lands him the perfect job of motivational dancing at the bar and bat mitzvahs for his younger brother’s classmates. When Andrew befriends a local mom, Domino (Dakota Johnson), and her daughter, Lola (newcomer Vanessa Burghardt), he finally discovers a future he wants—even if it might not be his own.

Raiff directed from his script, with Brad Garrett (Single Parents), Leslie Mann (The Bubble), Raúl Castillo (Army of the Dead), Odeya Rush (Umma) and newcomer Evan Assante rounding out the cast. Raiff, Johnson, Erik Feig, Jessica Switch and Ro Donnelly produced—the production companies involved being Picturestart, TeaTime Pictures and Endeavor Content.

Cha Cha Real Smooth won Sundance’s Audience Award upon its premiere at the 2022 festival. The film marks multi-hyphenate Raiff’s follow-up to the 2020 romantic drama Shithouse, in which he starred opposite Dylan Gelula, Amy Landecker, Logan Miller and Olivia Scott Welch, for IFC Films. That title was also a festival favorite, claiming SXSW’s Grand Jury Award.
