UPDATED with full trailer: “Something terrible has happened.”
Hulu has released the first full trailer for Candy, starring Jessica Biel as a friendly small-town wife and mother-turned-murderous adulterer. Watch the clip above and see the new key art below.
Biel plays Candy Montgomery, a housewife and mother in 1980s Texas who did everything right — good husband, two kids, nice house, even the careful planning and execution of transgressions. But when the pressure of conformity builds within her, her actions scream for just a bit of freedom. With deadly results.
“The compassion and friendship you’ve shown — you’re just a sweetheart,” Candy’s soon-to-be-victim Betty (Melanie Lynskey) tells her in the trailer.

The cops think their perp is a “strong male” — probably “some crazy drifter.”
“Swinging an ax 41 times — that ain’t easy,” we’re told.
Facing interrogators later, Candy says: “It’s such a travesty, what happened to her. In this community, it’s been a big shock. We were friends.”
Timothy Simons, , Pablo Schreiber and Raúl Esparza also star in the limited series, which will debut on May 9 and continue airing nightly through the 13th.
Candy hails from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and 20th Television, which is part of Disney Television Studios. Three-time Emmy nominee Robin Veith wrote the pilot, with Michael Uppendahl directing. Veith and Uppendahl also exec produced alongside Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund under their Eat the Cat banner, and Biel and Michelle Purple for Iron Ocean, with Jim Atkinson & John Bloom serving as consulting producers.
