Let the Endgame begin. Click on the image above to check out the livestream featuring the sights and sounds from the red-carpet festivities Monday afternoon at the world premiere of Avengers: Endgame, the mega-release from Disney’s Marvel Studios that is poised to make box office history when it opens wide Friday.
The stream will be initiated at 4:30 PM PT/7:30 PM ET and emanates from the Los Angeles Convention Center adjacent to Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
That’s a huge venue for a premiere, far larger than the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, which was the site seven years ago this month of the first Avengers movie premiere. That 2012 film brought together Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), who teamed with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to take on Loki (Tom Hiddleston). The first Avengers film truly launched the ambitious Marvel Studios plan to create an interlocking mythology that would unite multiple super-hero franchises in an arching narrative that would take the better part of a decade to reach its climax.
That climax is Avengers: Endgame, which features a small army of Marvel heroes in pitched battle against the grape-colored alien despot Thanos (Josh Brolin), a nefarious brute who made his first screen appearance in a mid-credits scene of the first Avengers film. The action picks up after the devastating events depicted in the closing minutes of Avengers: Infinity War (the top-grossing release of 2018 and Hollywood’s highest-grossing superhero film to date with $2.08 billion worldwide), which concluded with half of the living organisms in the universe crumbling into dust thanks to Thanos and his fearsome cosmic weapon, the Infinity Gauntlet.
Kevin Feige produced Avengers: Endgame, which was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo off of a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo, Trinh Tran, Jon Favreau and Stan Lee are the executive producers. The film is based on the Marvel Comics super-team introduced by Jack Kirby and Lee in 1963.
Avengers Endgame is off to an unprecedented level of presale success in China, and has delivered a new high-mark in the marketing promotional campaigns arena with global ad partnerships representing a combined media value well north of $200 million. With the crush of interest, the Russos have asked fans to preserve plots secrets and refrain from spreading spoilers via social media.
