There’s plenty of art in arthouse and indie film productions, but today’s indie-focused panel at the Produced By Conference was all about commerce. Despite its pointed title – “Is The Sky Falling?” – the session certainly wasn’t all doom and gloom, thanks to the force of VOD.
BREAKING: A new major independent film distributor has emerged, just in time for Toronto. Andrew Karpen, the longtime co-CEO of Focus Features, has unveiled Bleecker Street, a New York-based distribution company that has backing from 5-Hour Energy founder Manoj Bhargava.
Deadline told you Aug. 15 that Focus Features would name Vendome’s Jeb Brody its new production president replacing John Lyons, who left to produce films and focus on philanthropic pursuits. Focus just made it official. Here’s the release:
