Tim Hincks Named President Of Combined Endemol, Shine And Core Media Venture

With the official final agreement to create a joint-venture of Endemol, Shine, and Core Media announced a little over two weeks ago, another important piece of the management structure has fallen into place. Tim Hincks, current President of Endemol, has been named President of the combined entity. He will be based in London and report to the group’s CEO Sophie Turner Laing. Hincks’ focus will be on developing and growing the creative and strategic direction of the new venture with a specific responsibility for the UK and the U.S.

The exec first joined Endemol in 1999 after working on factual and current affairs programming for the BBC for nine years. He went on to hold a number of senior management roles at Endemol and was named UK CEO in 2008. He was appointed President of Endemol Group in 2012.

Just Spee, CEO of Endemol, and Alex Mahon, Shine Group CEO, are staying on board for an extended period over the transition and will exit their roles in 2015. Shine founder Elisabeth Murdoch will step down as non-executive chairman as soon as the deal closes, expected by year’s end.

The 50-50 partnership between 21st Century Fox and private equity firm Apollo Global Management will have creative operations in more than 30 markets, with a portfolio of more than 600 formats in both scripted and non-scripted.

“This new joint venture will establish one of the world’s most exciting, diverse and dynamic businesses for creative talent,” said Hincks. “It will be a place that gives the best people in our industry the freedom to pursue new ideas that they believe in and to take creative risks to realize their ambitions on a global scale. I’m thrilled to be working with Sophie, and with the brilliant teams at Shine, Core and Endemol, each of whom have made these great companies what they are today.”
