‘Constantine’ Review: Dominic Patten Says Demon Drama Doesn’t Catch Fire

With Halloween just on the horizon, NBC is bring Constantine to the small screen on October 24 as part of its darkly themed Friday night. Unfortunately, as my video review states, where the adaptation of the hugely successful and influential Hellblazer comic series should burn, it barely smolders.

The series is executive produced by David S. Goyer, the go-to screenwriter for DC Comics, with the Dark Knight trilogy, Man Of Steel and the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Dexter showrunner Daniel Cerone and Falling Stars EP Mark Verheiden. Christine Boylan is co-executive producer. Constantine stars Matt Ryan as the exorcist demon hunting detective, this is the latest comic book series from WBTV. Honestly, it’s no Gotham (see my video review) on Fox and not The Flash (see my video review) on The CW. It’s not really even the 2005 big screen version that starred Keanu Reeves.

Take a look at what I think and tell us what you think.
