‘Saturday Night Live’: ‘The Group Hopper’ Trailer Satirizes Every YA Film Ever Made

Looks like film trailer parodies are becoming a part of the weekly sketch rundown on Saturday Night Live this season. 

After sending up The Fault in Our Stars last weekend, SNL threw a pie in the face of that gigantic pile of young-adult novels that have been adapted to seemingly endless film trilogies/quartets/etc., including Divergent, The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner.

The “group” jokes are funny, but it’s Bill Hader, with his sublime, method portrayal of Elizabeth BanksHunger Games hostess Effie Trinket that’s the real money here. He does more than just imitate, taking the character to a whole other absurdist level (read, those black horns).
