Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8 Adds Development Exec Chris Goldberg & Mythology’s Jon Silk

Longtime 20th Century Fox exec Chris Goldberg is joining Sony PicturesStudio 8 as a development executive. Also officially coming aboard is Jon Silk, formerly of James Vanderbilt, Brad Fischer and Laeta Kalogridis’ Mythology Entertainment. Goldberg will report to boss Jeff Robinov and he and Silk are the second and third creative hires at the new shingle joining Robert Brassel, the former WB exec who became the new outfit’s first hire.

Goldberg was Director Of Literary Affairs at Fox and worked in the New York office scouting books for the feature film divisions including Gone Girl and The Fault In Our Stars and the upcoming The Martian being directed by Ridley Scott. Goldberg moved to LA last year.

Silk started as an assistant to Scott Rudin. After an exec stint at Lin Pictures where he produced Gangster Squad he was hired by Mythology as EVP Production and Development in October 2013.

Studio8_FotorStudio 8 officially was launched last month by former Warner Bros film boss Robinov backed by China’s Fosun Group. Under Sony the plan is to develop two movies the first year, four in the second and six in each of the next three, with budgets ranging from $45 million-$100 million-plus.

Robinov is staffing up the new company with 14-16 people including development executives, CFO, controller, in-house legal, physical production execs and assistants.
