Michael Rotenberg of 3 Arts Joins Keek Board

Two-time Emmy-winning producer and manager Michael Rotenberg (Silicon Valley, King Of The Hill) of 3 Arts Entertainment has joined the board of Keek, the fast-growing mobile video platform that claims more than 70 million users.

Keek Screen captureRotenberg said Keek is well positioned with Millennials, among the companies fighting for primacy in the burgeoning mobile video space. Competitors include Twitter’s Vine and Facebook’s Instagram among others. Keek’s videos can be up to 36 seconds long, still quite brief, but an eternity compared to Vine’s 6 seconds and Instagram’s 15. Users can annotate the video shorts with up to 111 characters of text.  Companies such as Relativity and Live Nation use the ad-supported platform, which is available in 190 countries and 36 languages, and on iOS, Android and Windows Mobile devices and the Web.

“Keek has a terrific position of shareable peeks in the social video universe,” Rotenberg said in a statement. “For the hashtag nation of Millennials, mobile is the first screen. Short-form ‘snackable’ content is where the growth trajectory is at. I’m excited about the opportunity to help shape Keek’s future from a production aspect as well as bring a fresh choice and new artistic canvas to talent.”

Last spring, the company named Alex Cameron as CEO, and this summer added Matt Scheckner of Stillwell Partners (producers of the just-concluded Advertising Week summit) to the board.

Rotenberg won an Emmy in 1999 for outstanding animated program for his part in King of the Hill. He also won in 1996 for variety, music or comedy special for Chris Rock: Bring the Pain. He has been nominated for seven other primetime Emmys, most recently this year for Silicon Valley, the Mike Judge exec-produced HBO comedy. Rotenberg also was executive producer on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Everybody Hates Chris, The Hughleys and numerous other TV series and specials over the past two decades. Rotenberg has also produced a string of films, including Office Space, Reign Over Me and Head of State.
