‘The Affair’ Review: Dominic Patten on Showtime’s Steamy, Subtle Drama [Video]

The Affair’ debuts Sunday night on Showtime, and stars Dominic West (The Wire, 300) as an author and teacher spending the summer with his family at his in-laws’ estate in Montauk on Long Island and Ruth Wilson (LutherSaving Mr. Banks) as a waitress working nearby. The more complicated part of their entanglement? Both characters are married to someone else. It’s a subtle and fine drama, featuring a series of strong performances, and not just by Wilson and West. Maura Tierney (E.R., The Good Wifeand Joshua Jackson (Dawson’s Creek, Fringe) as the jilted spouses.
