‘Survivor’s Remorse’ Ratings: LeBron James’ Starz Series Weak In Debut

Looks like LeBron James’ two-time NBA championship-winning ways did not translate into TV eyeballs this weekend with the premiere of Survivor’s Remorse. The rags-to-basketball-riches-and-fame Starz comedy executive produced by James debuted at 9 PM Saturday to a mere 203,000 total viewers.

To put that in context, that debut is down a hard 71% from what previous time-slot holder Outlander got in its August 9 premiere. The premiere of the half-hour Survivor’s Remorse also saw a drop of 56% from what fellow newbie drama Power pulled in its June 7 debut in the same Saturday slot. Now, even though those shows shared the same slot, it’s not totally comparing apples to apples as cable comedies generally never do as well as dramas. However, in this case, the fall is undeniably harsh for the highly praised show – even on what was a big baseball night. On the flipside, both Power and Outlander have been renewed for second seasons.

No word yet on the fate of Survivor’s Remorse, which did draw 391,000 total viewers over its debut and three encores on Saturday. Again, that was down from the 1.5 million Outlander had with the same number of airings for its Saturday premiere and the 1.27 million Power had for its premiere-night plays. Over all its plays over the weekend, Survivor’s Remorse got 605,000 viewers on Starz. Like Outlander, Survivor’s Remorse was previewed online in the week leading to its debut, with the six-episode series’ first two shows available since September 27. That first episode of SR was seen by nearly 200,000 viewers online and other platforms. Earlier this year, Starz sampled nearly 10 minutes of the first episode of Power on a variety of platforms.

Survivor’s Remorse is exec produced by James, Mike O’Malley, Tom Werner, Maverick Carter, Paul Wachter and Victor Levin.
