Parker Posey will guest star in the third season of BYUtv’s ’60s-set Cold War drama series Granite Flats. Posey will appear in eight episodes playing Alice White, the aunt of main character, 14-year-old Arthur Milligan. Alice has just been released from prison after spending the past decade there for murder. Formerly isolated and alone, she suffers from prescient visions, which frequently come true.
Also joining the cast for eight episodes is Scandal star George Newbern, who will play Scottie Andrews, a civil-liberties attorney from New York City who is uncle to the show’s teenage character, Madeline Andrews. A recently-in-recovery alcoholic who has been divorced three times, Scottie hasn’t seen his brother in six years. His fondness for his niece, as well as his boisterous and outgoing personality, will help him find his place in the Colorado town of Granite Flats.
Last season’s guest stars included Christopher Lloyd, Cary Elwes, Ivan Sergei and Finola Hughes. Lloyd will return for eight episodes in Season 3, while Sergei will return for three episodes and Hughes for one.
Granite Flats’ third season will premiere in April — one of several original programs produced by and aired on BYUtv, the high-definition cable network that’s an offshoot of Brigham Young University and is branded as a distributor of original “see the good in the world” programming. It is carried in more than 53 million homes on Dish Network, DirecTV and 800-plus cable systems across the country.
