‘DIG’ Gets March Premiere Date As USA Network Orders Four More Episodes: Video

USA Network has made it official, picking up four additional episodes of DIG to bring the upcoming action thriller event series to a total of 10. The network also set a March 5 premiere date for the murder-mystery drama set against the backdrop of modern Jerusalem from Tim Kring (Heroes), Gideon Raff (Homeland) and Universal Cable Productions. Speculation about a possible order expansion started last month based on USA brass’ reaction the pilot episode, shot in Israel. “We knew when we saw the exceptional pilot and immersed ourselves into the incredible world of intrigue that Tim and Gideon have created with DIG that we wanted more,” said USA President Chris McCumber. “With its multi-layered story, international locations, cinematic production and immensely talented cast, DIG promises to be a must-watch event series.”

DIG faced logistical challenges and a production delay when the military conflict in the Gaza Strip prevented the show from returning to Israel, with filming moved to Croatia and New Mexico after the pilot. To accommodate the production, USA shifted the premiere from fall 2014 to 2015. It is executive produced by co-creators Kring and Raff along with Gail Berman and Gene Stein and Keshet’s Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman and Karni Ziv.

DIG is not only a major event series, it’s also a major event for our studio,” said Jeff Wachtel, President and Chief Content Officer at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “Tim and Giddy, Gail and Avi have been spectacular partners who are creating a great show under extraordinary circumstances.”

What he discovers is  a conspiracy thousands of years in the making that threatens to change the course of history. David Costabile, Richard E. Grant, Regina Taylor, Lauren Ambrose, Alison Sudol , Omar Metwally and Ori Pfeffer co-star. SJ Clarkson directed and exec produced the pilot.
