Mipcom Briefs: France Télévisions Checks Out ‘The Librarians’; ProSieben, CBS Int’l Extend Partnership; More

EXCLUSIVE: On the eve of the Mipcom TV market which kicks off in Cannes next weekend, Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment has closed a key deal for its 10-episode drama The Librarians. France Télévisions has acquired the free TV, VOD, DTO and home video rights in France. The series starts airing in the U.S. on TNT on December 7. It’s a follow-up to the network’s hit movie trilogy and stars Rebecca Romijn with Noah Wyle in a recurring role. He toplined the movies and is exec producing the series with Devlin, John Rogers and Marc Roskin. Universal Networks International has rights to the UK and other territories in a six month pay-TV window with broadcast and free to follow. Electric is handling all sales rights. The France Télévisions deal is the first of them. Electric will hold a special screening of the first two episodes at Mipcom on October 13 with Romijn in attendance.

ProSiebenSat1ProSiebenSat.1 Media and CBS Studios International are extending their long-time partnership to bring TV series to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Under the expanded content licensing agreement, ProSieben will secure the exclusive rights to series that CBS will produce in the years to come, including NCIS spinoff NCIS: New Orleans. As well as the exclusive free-TV rights, the agreement also covers select pay-TV licenses. The group already holds exclusive rights to CBS shows like Elementary and Under The Dome.

Food-Logo_blkScripps Networks UK & EMEA has made its biggest commission to date with contemporary kitchen series The Big Eat for Food Network. Cooking shows are among the hottest properties these days in Europe and this one will air in daytime across the region. Produced by Sweet TV, 40 half-hours have been ordered with a premiere set for November 3. The Big Eat will be presented by popular UK foodies and feature guest appearances from experienced bakers, chefs and cooks. The hosts will whip-up a minimum of three delicious recipes per show, providing insider knowledge and helpful tips for the home cook.
