Late-Night Ratings: Jimmy Fallon & Derek Jeter Scoot Past Jimmy Kimmel On Second Thursday Of Season

After losing the first Thursday of the TV season to ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel, NBC’s Tonight Show star Jimmy Fallon recruited Derek Jeter and climbed to the top, in the metered market households: 3.0 vs 2.7. Fallon also edged out Jimmy Kimmel Live in the demo, in Local People Meters, 1.1  rating to 1.0. One week earlier, Kimmel had led with a 1.2 to Fallon’s 0.9 in the demo.

Kimmel has enjoyed slot-winning ratings on Thursdays with Shonda Rhimes dramas as his lead-in, and stars of Rhimes’ dramas as his guests. That’s what happened on Premiere Week Thursday. Last night, Kimmel played host to Ellen Pompeo, star of Rhimes’ Grey’s Anatomy.

Fallon enlisted retired Yankee Jeter, who ended his 20-year career on Sunday.
