‘Face The Nation’ Wins TV Season; ‘This Week’ Nabs First 3rd Quarter Win In 17 Years

CBS’s Face The Nation squeaked past ABC’s This Week by 1,000 news demo viewers, to take first place for the TV season among Image (2) ThisWeek__130426160932-275x219.jpg for post 484312Sunday Beltway shows. Bob Schieffer’s CBS show won the TV season more handily among overall audience.

In the news demo, Face wound up the 2013-14 TV season with an average 867,000 demo viewers, to This Week’s 866,000; NBC’s Meet the Press logged 786,000, and Fox News Sunday averaged 397,000 viewers. That’s This Week’s most competitive season performance in the news demo in two decades.

In overall audience, Face nabbed 3.111 million viewers across the season, to This Week’s 2.932 million; Meet the Press trailed at 2.724 million, besting  Fox News Sunday’s 1.241 mil.

ABC’s This Week nabbed the third quarter win in the news demo (851,000), soundly beating Face’s 748,000, as well as MTP’s 693,00 and Fox’s 357,000. That’s This Week’s first third-quarter news demo win in 17 years. It also marked This Week’s first back to back demo wins in more than two decades. It was This Week’s biggest news demo win over MTP for a quarter in 21 years, and over Face the Nation in nearly 14. During the quarter, NBC News replaced MTP host David Gregory, giving the gig to its chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd.
