Kourtney Kang Sells Autobiographical Nanny Comedy To ABC With Penalty

In her first development season following the end of  How I Met Your Mother, the comedy’s executive producer Kourtney Kang has sold a comedy project to ABC with a significant penalty. Based on Kang’s real life, Who’s Steve explores what happens when your wife’s gay ex-boyfriend from high school becomes your nanny. It is an ensemble show about the unlikely family of a married couple and their single friends that formed to help raise their daughter. And the married couple helps the single folks in their quest for love, mostly to get them out of their house.

Who’s Steve, which Kang will write and executive produce, marks her first project under the new overall deal with HIMYM studio 20th Century Fox TV, which she signed in June. Under the pact, she already is in business with ABC, working on 20th TV’s new family comedy series for the network Fresh Off The Boat. Kang, repped by UTA and attorney Ken Richman, was one of the key writer-producers on HIMYM. She started on HIMYM as a writer after the pilot and worked her way up to executive producer. She also co-created and executive produced 20th TV’s comedy pilot for CBS Livin’ On A Prayer with HIMYM creators/exec producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas as well as the show’s writer-producer Joe Kelly.
