Jessie Ennis Joins ‘Veep’; Gladys Knight In ‘Empire’

Jessie Ennis has joined the cast of HBO’s D.C. comedy Veep in a recurring role for Season 4. Ennis, repped by UTA and Underground, also recurs on Fox’ s Red Band Society and most recently starred opposite Matt Walsh,and Amy Sedaris in David Cross’ feature Hits.

Gladys Knight has signed on to Fox’s Empire, playing herself in a potentially recurring role. The hip-hop industry drama series from Lee Daniels, Danny Strong and Brian Grazer centers on Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), a charismatic, savvy music superstar who is about to take his company, Empire Entertainment, public. Knight, the “Midnight Train To Georgia” singer who released the gospel album Where My Heart Belongs this month, will sing in the show.
