Fox Moves ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Out of 2015; Sets ‘Deadpool’ For Feb. 2016

Assassin’s Creed, 20th Century Fox’s feature adaptation of the hit Ubisoft videogame franchise, originally scheduled for next Aug. 7, has been moved off 2015’s schedule, but looks to resurface at some point in 2016.  Assassin’s Creed has Michael Fassbender attached to star and his Macbeth director Justin Kurzel helming.
The studio also shifted release dates for Fantastic Four and Paper Towns next summer and officially dated its Marvel X-Men spinoff Deadpool for February 12, 2016.With Disney/Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy having proved that it’s possible to eventize a comic book film in August, Fox is moving its Fantastic Four reboot from June 19, 2015 to August 7. The other upside is that it will permit the studio to get more access to large-format screens at that time.Paper Towns, Fox’s second feature adaptation from novelist John Green following The Fault In Our Stars, moves from July 31, 2015 to June 19, 2015. That third weekend in June is the same frame that launched Fault In Our Stars into a $124.8M success stateside.
