Ashley Judd & Demian Bichir Join Voltage’s ‘Good Kids’

Nicolas Chartier’s Voltage Pictures has set Ashley Judd and Demian Bichir to star with Nicholas Braun, Zoey Deutch, Israel Broussard and Mateo Arias in the teen coming-of-age comedy Good Kids, which also is being produced by Depth of Field. The film started shooting today in Massachusetts.

Judd, most recently seen in Divergent, will play a beautiful Cape Cod tennis wife, and Oscar-nominated A Better Life star Bichir will play the senior tennis coach at the club. Also joining the cast are Dayo Okeniyi, who recently wrapped Terminstor: Genisys; Julia Garner, who co-starred with Braun in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower; and Ginny Gardner from Paramount’s upcoming Project Almanac.

The story follows four overachieving high school students living on Cape Cod who, upon graduation, realize that they’ve missed out on key life experiences by always being the “good kids.” They decide to completely reinvent themselves when the summer kids show up, in order to truly enjoy their last time together before college.

Chris McCoy wrote the 2011 Black List script and is making his directorial debut on the film, which is being produced by Depth of Field’s Chris Weitz, Paul Weitz and Andrew Miano, alongside Voltage’s Dominic Rustam. Justin Bursch is executive producing, and Babacar Diene also is overseeing the project for Voltage. WME Global is repping domestic rights for the film, while Voltage Pictures is handling international sales.
