Fox Buys Action Comedy From ‘Let’s Be Cops’ Duo With Penalty

Fox has put in development 100 Grand, an action comedy from Nick Thomas, co-writer of feature action comedy Let’s Be Cops, and the movie’s co-star Jake Johnson. The single-camera project, which has received a script commitment plus penalty, hails from 20th TV and studio-based Walcott Co, the company of New Girl star Johnson and director Max Winkler. Written by Thomas, 100 Grand is described as an adrenaline-packed comedy that follows two guys who learn how to grow up in the most unexpected way: paying off a debt for a local crime boss. Thomas, Winkler and Johnson executive produce with 3 Arts’ Dave Becky, Oly Obst and Jonathan Berry. In its first development cycle last season, Walcott landed a pilot order at ABC for comedy The Winklers, penned by Phil Rosenthal and starring Max’s father, Henry Winkler. Let’s Be Cops, which stars Johnson and fellow New Girl cast member Damon Wayans Jr, was co-written by Paradigm-repped Thomas and the film’s director, Luke Greenfield.
