NBC Buys Suburban New Jersey Comedy

Blogging in suburbia, that is the subject of a single-camera comedy from writers Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley (Scrubs, Happy Endings) and producer David Janollari. The project, from Universal TV, where Janollari and Cragg & Bradley are under overall deals, has sold to NBC. Inspired by Cragg and Bradley’s personal observations of their own family lives, it centers on a pop science blogger and his wife who move from Manhattan and single life to New Jersey and married/family life. There, he begins writing about his suburban friends and neighbors on the cul-de-sac in the style of an anthropologist who’s stumbled on an undiscovered tribe. The untitled comedy, written and exec produced by Cragg and Bradley, looks at various themes from mating rituals to child rearing to gender differencess. Janollari is executive producing through his Janollari Entertainment, which also has sold a comedy to NBC penned by Growing Up Fisher creator DJ Nash, The Catch. It centers on a newly single guy who found an amazing Greenwich Village apartment for way under market value, but here’s the catch: his landlord/potential love interest, Sydney, is an uptight therapist who uses the apartment to see clients a few hours every day. Nash also has single-camera comedy People Are Talking, examining sex, race and everything else your parents told you never to talk about, at NBC and Uni TV. Cragg is repped by Resolution; Bradley is with UTA.
