Showtime Developing Series Based On Mary Karr’s Memoirs With Mary-Louise Parker Circling To Star

EXCLUSIVE: Showtime is expanding its relationship with Masters Of Sex executive producers Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly with another hourlong period project based on a showtime4person’s real-life story. The pay cable network has put in development a series based on the memoirs of poet/essayist Mary Karr. One of Showtime’s signature stars, Weeds‘ Mary-Louise Parker, is eyeing the lead in the project for a return to the network. If Parker commits to star, she will serve as an executive producer on the potential series alongside Timberman and Beverly. Karr drew a lot of attention and praise with her best-selling 1995 memoir Liars’ Club, which chronicled, with some humor, her challenging childhood in East Texas in the 1960s. Her follow-up memoirs, Cherry and Lit, document her perilous journey into adulthood and her struggles with alcoholism. Karr will adapt her books and co-executive produce, with Frank Konigsberg (William & Kate) attached as a producer.

Masters Of Sex, which Timberman-Beverly produces with Sony TV, is in its second season and has already been renewed for a third. Parker toplined NBC’s comedy pilot Feed Me this past development season. Timberman-Beverly is with CAA; Parker with WME.
