Breakout YouTube comedians Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart will host the 4th annual Streamy Awards on Sept. 7. The awards, produced by dick clark productions and Tubefilter, also announced finalists for two fan-voted “audience choice” categories. entertainer of the year and show of the year.
The awards will handed out in 14 categories at the Beverly Hilton. Winners of about two-dozen other categories will be announced in a Sept. 4 reception at the YouTube Space L.A.
Helbig in particular has had a busy summer, taping an online travel show called HeyUSA with Mamrie Hart that has been picked up by Conde Nast’s video venture TheScene.com and signing a deal with E! to host a pilot for a comedy/talk show. Her Its Grace YouTube channel has more than 1.8 million subscribers.
Hannah Hart is best known for her long-running comedy/cooking show My Drunk Kitchen, part of her MyHarto channel on YouTube that has nearly 1.5 million subscribers. Hart’s book My Drunk Kitchen was released Aug. 12. The pair also have appeared together in an independent film, Camp Takota.
Finalists for the Streamys Audience Choice Entertainer of the Year are: Helbig, Bethany Mota, Brittany Furlan, Jack Vale, Jenna Marbles, Maiah Ocando, Michelle Phan, Ryan Higa, Toby Turner and Tyler Oakley.
Finalists for the Streamys Audience Choice Show of the Year are: Emma Approved, EnchufeTV, Kids React, MyMusic, Nerdy Nummies, Rooster Teeth, SortedFood, SourceFed, The Phillip De Franco Show and Video Game High School. Fans will be able to vote online at streamys.org once a day for their choice in each category until voting closes the day before the awards.
Nominations in other categories were previously announced, and were dominated by Video Game High School, creator Freddie Wong and others connected with that show. Assaf Blecher of dick clark and Drew Baldwin and Joshua Cohen of Tubefilter will exec produce the show, which is sponsored by Coca-Cola and will, of course, stream live online at www.streamys.org
