Aaron Paul Starts Production Company, Inks First-Look Deal With Sony TV

EXCLUSIVE: As Aaron Paul prepares to take a final bow at the Emmys for his acclaimed performance on AMC’s Breaking Bad, the actor is staying in business with Breaking Bad producer Sony Pictures TV. Paul has signed a first-look deal with the studio to develop and produce new series projects. He will shepherd the projects through his newly launched Sony_Pictures_Televisionproduction company, Lucid Road Productions. Starting a company marks the next step for Paul, who recently ventured into producing, executive producing and voicing a character in Netflix’s new animated series BoJack Horseman, which was released today, and co-executive producing the feature Hellion, which premiered at Sundance in January.

This is Paul’s fifth Emmy nomination for his role as meth-kingpin-apprentice-seeking-moral-redemption Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad for the dark drama’s final episodes. He has won two times and is again considered a top contender for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

With the Paul deal, Sony TV is keeping all major Breaking Bad players in the fold. Creator/executive producer Vince Gilligan is under an overall deal and working on two series, including Breaking Bad offshoot Better Call Saul, and Paul’s co-star and fellow Emmy nominee Bryan Cranston also has a first-look pact. Breaking Bad has seven nominations in six Emmy categories including best drama series for Monday’s 66th Primetime Emmys.

Paul is repped by UTA and Loch Powell at Leverage Management.
