Mark Burnett & Roma Downey Producing Guardian Angels Drama For NBC
Roma Downey became a household name with her role on CBS’ Touched By An Angel as an angel bringing guidance and messages from God to people in trouble. Now she is producing another drama series project about angels helping mortals, this time at NBC. Downey and husband/producing partner Mark Burnett have brought to NBC a drama script written by John J. Sakmar and Kerry Lenhart (Boston Public). Tentatively titled Unveiled, the drama revolves around a group of guardian angels who must intervene to help people in a state of crisis. NBC is currently redeveloping the script, from Universal TV and Burnett and Downey’s Lightworks Media. Burnett, Downey, Sakmar and Lenhart executive produce. Burnett and Downey collaborations have been largely on projects with spiritual and religious themes. Following the blockbuster success of their limited series The Bible for History, the two are producing a sequel, A.D., for NBC. They also have miniseries The Dovekeepers at CBS.
